Reiki is a natural healing energy activated by intention. It works on every level, not just the physical.
The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, founded by Mikao Usui in Japan in the early 20th century. The word Reiki means ‘universal life force energy‘. Eastern medicine has always recognized and worked with this energy, which flows through all living things, and is vital to our well-being.
Reiki is a non-invasive therapy whose aim is to treat holistically. A Reiki treatment is non-diagnostic, non-interventionist and non-manipulative. A session is usually carried out with the client either lying down or sitting in a comfortable and peaceful environment. There is no need to remove any clothing as the energy passes through all materials. The practitioner places their hands gently on or over the body, no pressure is applied. The client automatically draws in only as much energy as is needed.
Reiki may be experienced as a flow of energy, tingling, warmth, coolness, other sensations or nothing at all. Reiki is deeply relaxing and has a profound calming effect. It is a good idea to rest for a while afterwards and drink plenty of water.
Some of the benefits of Reiki are;
- Stress and pain relief
- Clearance of emotional blockages
- Promotes personal awareness
- Strengthening of the immune system
- Promotes relaxation and sleep
- Clearance of toxins
- Supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself
Even one single Reiki session may make a difference, however a course of regular treatments may be more effective. A treatment plan will be discussed with you and reviewed as necessary.
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful complementary therapy that may be used with confidence alongside orthodox healthcare. As such, it expands treatment options. Reiki, however, is not an alternative to conventional medicine. You should therefore always consult a G.P. about acute or infectious conditions and in connection with problems of an urgent nature.
All Reiki treatments are carried out by a fully qualified Usui Reiki Ryoho Master Teacher.
